Mixology: The Ramses from NYC’s Louis 649

By Julia Hughes, Head Bartender at Louis 649, New York City

The Ramses was created in honor of two regulars at Louis 649 who courted at the bar.  When they announced that they were getting married, this drink was created to celebrate their union.  They loved both whiskey and Aperol, and the drink incorporates both into a simple, refreshing, and bright whiskey cocktail.  The drink’s name comes from their last name upon their marriage, Ramses.

Ingredients
1.5 oz bourbon whiskey
0.75 oz Aperol
0.5 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
0.25 oz simple syrup

Combine ingredients in a Boston shaker.  Add ice, and shake.  Strain into a chilled rocks glass with ice cubes.  Garnish with an orange twist and serve.
