Whiskey Reviewer Editor Publishes Civil War Novel

The Whiskey Reviewer is pleased to announce the release of the trade paperback version of our Managing Editor’s first novel, Stonewall Goes West. Written by R. E. Thomas and set in the American Civil War, Stonewall Goes West is an alternative history, answering the question of what might have happened had the famous general Stonewall Jackson not been killed at Chancellorsville in May 1863. After the reunited team of Robert E. Lee and Jackson inflict another humiliating defeat on the Union in October 1863, Jackson is promoted to command of the Confederacy’s main western army, and tasked with reversing the South’s flagging fortunes.

From a whiskey point of view, Stonewall Goes West has a few characters who are fond of what was a very popular liquor in 19th Century America. Although a minor topic, the role of drink, and of whiskey in particular, is woven into the story as an element of historical flavoring.

The paperback version of the novel is currently available on Amazon, and in select bookstores and giftshops. R.E. Thomas will be making an official appearance at the 150th Anniversary Reenactment of the Battle of Chancellorsville, May 3rd to 5th. The Kindle version of Stonewall Goes West will be released in late April.
