Catoctin Creek Distillery has shipped its first order internationally. A pallet of the popular Roundstone Rye whisky, made from 100% organic rye grain, left Purcellville, Virginia today bound for Singapore. The buyer, Liberty Spirits Asia Pte. Limited, will distribute the whisky throughout its tasting rooms in southeast Asia.

“This is a very important day for us at the distillery,” said Scott Harris, founder and General Manager at Catoctin Creek. “We have always sold our spirits throughout the East Coast, highlighting what great local spirits they are, and we have had lots of interest because they’re locally made. But today, we can safely say, ‘We’re not just local, but world-class!’ I cannot wait to see how this new Asian market develops.”

Harris recently returned from business exploration trips to Shanghai and Germany, sponsored in part by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS), and the small family-run distillery is now ramping up production to allow for international exports while meeting the demands at home. “We’re adding jobs and making more product,” said Harris. “Our distillery now employs seventeen people, and we’re very proud of that in this economy.”

“Based on their sustainable approach to production and pride in their spirits, we knew immediately that Catoctin Creek was a special distillery that we wanted to partner with,” said Tyler Hendrie, co-founder of Liberty Spirits Asia.

“We’re especially privileged to be bringing Catoctin Creek’s 100% organic Roundstone Rye whisky to the Asian market,” said Howard Lo, co-founder of Liberty Spirits Asia. “Catoctin Creek’s popularity and participation in the mid-Atlantic spirits community is inspiring, and we hope to bring that level of engagement to Asia.”
