Vancouver’s Liberty Distillery released their newest spirit today, and their first whiskey. Railspur No. 1 is a triple-distilled in a single copper pot still from malt white whiskey, and bottled at 47% abv. The malt used is 100% organic barley grown in Armstrong, British Columbia.

Liberty opened its doors in November 2013, and the Railspur No. 1 White Whiskey joins their existing vodka. The distillery describes Railspur No. 1 as having a nose of “rich barley, beeswax, and honeycomb,” and a flavor of “full-bodied honey and whole meal biscuit.” The whiskey is available in 375 ml, 50 ml, 750 ml, and 1.75 l botttles.

Railspur is the first whiskey from Liberty’s Master Distiller Laurent LaFuente, but not its last. Trust Whiskey is due out in 2016, and in the meantime Liberty has a new gin slated for spring 2014.

  1. Your gins are remarkable. Enjoy them all particularly Pink and Old Tom but have to say that the white whiskey is undrinkable. You should re consider its continuation.
