Wemyss Malts receives their first washback

Craft bottler Wemyss Malts is known for their artisanal blended scotch and vatted malt scotch, as well as their line of select single cask single malts. Yet the bottling company has ambitions to join the ranks of Scotland’s distillers, and this month saw them come closer to that goal.
Earlier this month, Wemyss completed renovating the roof on their Kingsbarns facility, home of their future distillery. Important as that step was, it was not as symbolic as yesterday’s installation of the very first washback.
The pace of equipment installations is due to accelerate now, and according to Karen Stewart of Wemyss Malts, the Kingsbarns distillery should open in a little over five months time.
