BenRiach Sees Big Profits, To Invest £25m

By Richard Thomas

BenRiach, the Edinburg-based whisky company that owns the BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh distilleries, announced pre-tax profits of £11.1 million for last year, a rise of 24% over the previous year. According to the BBC, the company cited an “unprecedented” spike in demand last year across all five of their major markets: Taiwan, Germany, the UK, Africa and the USA.

In addition to announcing record profits, the BenRiach company has also announced its intent to reinvest to the tune of £25m, with particular emphasis on expanded warehousing capacity.

BenRiach distillery was bought by Billy Walker and his South African partners in 2004, founding the company. At that time they had 12 employees, but now employ 120 between the offices, distilleries and bottling plant.
