Royal Salute, the super premium sub-brand of Chivas Regal, has released a new expression dubbed The Eternal Reserve.
This new blended whisky draws on specially selected casks, chosen for their particularly lengthy finishes. The whisky is then brought together using an elaboration on the solera technique that Chivas calls “Circular Blending.” The whisky is transfered from the vat to fill 88 specially chosen casks, married there for six months, and then put back in the vat for bottling. Only half of the batch is used. The vat is then topped up with more whisky, which is then transferred back into the 88 casks.
The Eternal Reserve will be available only through Global Travel Retail outlets, and will fetch $180 per 70 cl bottle.
Royal Salute itself is the 21 year old expression of Chivas Regal, created to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
