Corsair Artisan Distillery, widely considered one of the most innovative of America’s craft distilleries, opened its third facility in the Wedgewood/Houston district of Nashville, Tennessee last month. News of their expansion plans first broke earlier this past summer.
The new facility was built with a heavy emphasis on catering to visitors and entertaining, with two separate bars, a patio, and an upstairs deck. With a new Vendome-built still, the distillery at the Wedgewood plant will focus on making brown spirits (including aged whiskey), while Corsair’s existing two plants will refocus on clear spirits (Bowling Green) and beer and hopped whiskeys (Nashville’s Marathon district). In keeping with the emphasis on aged products, the new Wedgewood location includes extensive storage space for barrels.
Although started in Kentucky, this third center firmly anchors Corsair to Tennessee, and company chief Darek Bell isn’t done expanding in Nashville either. Work is in progress to create a fourth plant near the location of Wedgewood distillery and visitor center.
