Coinciding with the holiday season, one of the “Four Kings” of American craft whiskey-making, Iowa’s Mississippi River Distilling, has released a trio of limited edition whiskeys.
First is the 5th Anniversary Edition Cody Road Single Barrel Bourbon. As the name says, this is a single barrel, limited edition version of the Cody Road Bourbon, bottled at 105 proof and priced at $75.
Also in the Cody Road Bourbon vein is the new Cody Road Double Barrel. Two barrels worth of the bourbon were finished in casks used to make Wide River Winery’s “Not Guilty” dessert wine, creating a batch of 500 bottles at 101 proof.
These two bourbons will be available at the distillery and on limited distribution in Iowa and Illinois.
Finally, there is a special rye whiskey release this year called “Whiskey on the Rye.” This whiskey is bottled at 105 proof, priced at $46, and is available only in Illinois HyVee stores in Moline, Rock Island, Milan and Silvis, basically across the Mississippi River from the distillery in Iowa.
