The only distillery in Wales, Penderyn, may soon create its own company, as the Swansea Council has granted the first round of approval for a £3.75 million project to turn the old Hafod Morfa Copperworks into a new distillery and visitors center.
The development project is intended to create a tourist attraction drawing up to 50,000 visitors per year. However, it would also be a working distillery, expanding on Penderyn’s production. The scheme would build on a preservation project already underway at the copperworks. The powerhouse and rolling mill buildings would be remodeled into the new distillery visitor center.
