Beam Opens Kentucky’s Biggest Rickhouse

By Richard Thomas

In the wake of the Beam Distillery workers strike, Jim Beam has announced the opening of a new rickhouse on Friday, November 4. Underscoring the bourbon boom and the substantial increase in production that has come along with it, the new rickhouse is described as the largest in Kentucky.

The new facility is located on Georgetown Road in Frankfort, better known among bourbon enthusiasts as the home of Buffalo Trace. It is the first new rickhouse built in Frankfort in almost five decades.

The new facility is seven stories tall and has the capacity to store more than 59,000 barrels. This is 17% larger than the next biggest rickhouse owned by Beam, and the company owns 112 of them.
