Usquaebach Releases First New Blend In A Generation

Timed for this year’s holiday season, Usquaebach Blended Scotch Whisky has released its first new blend in nearly 25 years, the An Ard Ri Cask Strength.

Usquaebach was established in 1877 and continues to thrive today. The word “Usquaebach” literally translates to “the water of life,” and it’s collection of whiskies resurrects the same fiery spirit that was born in the rolling hills of Scotland, long before Scotch was a drink for those with discerning tastes.

The team behind Usquaebach, led by master blender Stewart Laing, released the Usquaebach An Ard Ri Cask Strength in 2,000 limited production bottling. This 100% malt-blended Scotch is distilled at 57.1% ABV and is created with whiskies from Mr. Laing’s private collection.

On the nose, the An Ard Ri is said to exhibit marzipan, brioche and burnt orange peel, followed by notes of honey, leather, dried fruits and brown sugar on the palate. Packaged in a striking blue and gold flagon, the An Ard Ri represents a time preceded the mass production of glass bottles, and is one spirit sure to knock those proverbial snowmen socks off. The recommended price for this aged vatted malt is $200.
