Virginia’s Filibuster Distillery Starts $795K Expansion

According to a press release issued by the Governor of Virginia’s office on Tuesday, Filibuster Distillery is set to invest $795,000 in an expansion project. The expansion will create a projected eight new jobs at the distillery.

Filibuster is located in Maurertown, in the Lower Shenandoah Valley. The press release also specified that Filibuster had committed to purchasing all of its corn and rye from Virginia farmers, and would consequently receive a $30,000 grant from Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development.

“Their expansion will create needed jobs and investment in the Shenandoah Valley, and contribute to Virginia’s reputation as a world-class craft beverage producer,” McAuliffe said.

Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Basil Gooden said the distillery expansion is another positive step for Virginia’s reputation as a craft beverage destination.

“This project represents the company’s commitment to the area and to Virginia’s grain producers, who are seizing the market opportunity created by Virginia’s fast-growing craft beer and distilled spirit industries,” he said.

Filibuster began as a sourced whiskey brand, and continues to rely on sourced whiskey to furnish its products today. The company began looking at its Maurertown home shortly after beginning bottling operations, and their distillery there went operational in 2016.

  1. I’m going to sample your product in Maurertown this Friday. I live in Maurertown at 343 Maurertown Mill Road, about 4 walking minutes from your distillery and would love to get a job there. I could be there in any weather. I’m a young 62 year old male who likes to work. Can send resume if you’d like. Regardless I will be there to sample your work.
