Sweden’s The Box Releases A New Peat Bomb

The Second Step 03 is Box Distillery’s final step in the much talked about Second Step Collection series. A triptych, trio, that has showcased Box Distillery’s character, what the northern Swedish climate, careful cask choices and passionate craft can achieve with a young whisky. The Second Step 03 is released as a web release via the Swedish alcohol monopoly, Systembolaget, 6^th April 2017, 10:00.

The Second Step 03 consists in the main of peated whisky that has been matured on ex-bourbon casks, these have been complimented with whisky matured in American and Hungarian virgin oak casks. This is a whisky in classic Islay style, around 75% of the casks used were traditional ex-bourbon barrels at 200 or 135 liters. The Second Step 03 has elegant spicy notes from toasted and medium roasted casks made from new oak – virgin oak. The new oak delivers with a range of fruity notes, spiciness and vanilla.

The Second Step 03 total availability will be 8291 bottles, with 4000 already allocated to the Swedish market, the balance will be released internationally.
