Four Roses Small Batch LE 2017 Coming Out

Four Roses Distillery will issue the newest release in its series of limited-quantity special bottlings with the 2017 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon.

The bottling will first be available in limited quantities at the Four Roses Distillery and Warehouse & Bottling Facility on Saturday, September 16 beginning at 9 a.m. The Limited Edition Small Batch will roll out to additional select retailers in the coming weeks.

This year’s release marks the first Limited Edition Small Batch in the brand’s history to feature only its low rye mashbill.

In the beginning stages of handcrafting a limited edition bottling, Master Distiller Brent Elliott creates countless test blends from select barrels in an effort to mingle the best Limited Edition offering.

“The magic happened early on with this Small Batch Bourbon—after only my third test blend, I knew we had hit the target and then some,” said Elliott. “In subsequent blind samplings this one always stood out.”

Four Roses is the only Bourbon distillery that combines two mashbills with five proprietary yeast strains to produce 10 distinct Bourbon recipes, each with its own unique characteristics. Master Distiller Brent Elliott selected a 15-year-old Bourbon from Four Roses’ OESK recipe, a 13-year-old OESK and a 12-year-old OESV for this year’s Limited Edition Small Batch.

“There is a remarkable synergy among the three batches,” said Elliott. “Once we combined them, it resulted in more depth, richness and warmth than any one of the individual recipes.”

Bottled at barrel strength with a proof of 107.3, the 2017 Limited Edition Small Batch introduces warm aromas of allspice and vanilla bean, mingled with rich apricot and stewed fruits. Bright raspberry flavors greet the palate, then give way to hints of decadent, sweet maraschino cherry and light oak. The finish is long, with notes of rich brown sugar and hints of cinnamon.

Four Roses will distribute approximately 13,800 hand-numbered bottles of the 2017 Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon in the United States with a suggested retail price of $130.
