Whiskey Reviewer Editor Publishes Port Wine Book
The Whiskey Reviewer is pleased to announce the release of Port: Beginners Guide to Wine, an e-book in the 101 Publishing’s Wine Series by our Managing Editor, Richard Thomas. Enjoyable in its own right as a drink that bridges the gap between the worlds of wine and spirits, Port wine also contributes its own little something to whiskey-making. Bourbons like Angel’s Envy and scotches such as The Balvenie’s Portwood use the barrels leftover for aging Port (principally tawny) in their secondary maturation. VAT 69 even used to come old port bottles! So, besides being worthwhile on its own, learning a little about Port wine will help ambitious whiskey snobs discover what exactly what old Port barrels contribute to the aging of whiskey.
The “book” is a quick read at roughly 5,000 words, the equivalent of a lengthy magazine article. Port: Beginners Guide to Wine is available only on Kindle.
