The Pogues Launch Own Whiskey Brand
By Richard Thomas
Legendary Celt-punk band The Pogues have joined the trend of celebrities releasing their own whiskey label and launched an Irish whiskey named simply “The Pogues.”
Made by West Cork Distillers in collaboration with the band, the Irish whiskey is a half-and-half blend of malt and grain whiskey. With 50% malt in the bottle, The Pogues Irish whiskey is billed as having the highest malt proportion of any blended whiskey in Ireland.
The whiskey was launched last Friday at The Boogaloo club in London, and for the time being will be available only in the UK. The recommended retail price is £30.
