Jack Daniel’s Announces $140 Million Expansion
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announced Wednesday that Lynchburg’s Jack Daniel’s Distillery is planning a $140 million expansion project to help meet worldwide demand for its Tennessee Whiskey. Jack Daniel’s is ranked as the world’s second-best selling whiskey brand, after Johnnie Walker Scotch.
The major investment will be used to build two rickhouses, expand the bottling plant, and improve the tourist facilities. Last year saw more than 275,000 tourists visit the Lynchburg distillery, so the visitor experience needs to keep pace just as much as the whiskey.
Less than three years ago, Jack Daniel’s Distillery completed a previous $103 million expansion that added new stills, rickhouses and other infrastructure to the facility. That investment created 94 jobs, and this new round is expected to add 30 more.
