Three More West Cork Whiskeys Coming To America
In partnership with its U.S. importer, M.S. Walker, West Cork Distillers has announced the launch of three new limited release products to its line of Irish Whiskeys.
Building upon their success with the West Cork Bourbon Cask and 10-Year Old Single Malt, and the recent limited release of Barrel Proof and Black Reserve, West Cork will be releasing three different 12-Year Old Single Malts this Fall: 12-Year Old Sherry Cask, 12-Year Old Rum Cask and 12-Year Old Port Cask.
As one of the only independent Irish-owned distillers exporting Irish Whiskey to the U.S., West Cork Distillers, based in the remote seaside town of Skibbereen, continues to demonstrate the art of hand-crafted production.
The range of West Cork 12-Year Old Single Malt is prepared using 100% Irish malted barley and cut with spring water from the nearby Ilen River. It is non-chill filtered and contains no added caramel. The whiskeys are aged in first-fill straight Kentucky bourbon casks for 12 years and then finished 6-12 months in Sherry, Rum or Port casks, all of which are hand selected by Frank McHardy.
The Rum casks are sourced from the West Indies, the Sherry casks are from Andalusia, Spain and the Port casks are of the Douro Superior genre. Frank determined the duration of cask finishing in order to get a gentle rum, port or sherry cask finish, without compromising the flavors from Bourbon cask maturation.
West Cork is releasing only 2,500 bottles of each new product in the U.S. West Cork Distillery has been operating since 2008, are working on their own in-house products, but these new whiskeys are all drawn from sourced stock.
All three marks are bottled at 86 Proof, and will retail for $65.99.
