Sweden’s Mackmyra Launches 10 Year Old Single Malt
Mackmyra, the pioneering Swedish whisky distillery, has launched Ten Years, their first single malt bearing an age statement released for general sale. It will be available in Sweden and selected export markets.
Ten Years has been matured in ex-bourbon casks as well as new American oak casks that held Oloroso sherry for some months. The whisky is created from the Mackmyra unpeated “elegant” recipe. These casks were rested in the distillery’s Bodas mine warehouse for over a decade, and the current batch yielded over 20,000 bottles of single malt whisky. Some 12,000 of them were bought by the Swedish state alcohol retailer Systembolaget, leaving the remainder, minority share available for export.
“We are very proud to launch Ten Years. It is a special whisky which we have given a great deal of attention to and so it gives us extra pleasure to be able to share it with so many in the first really large public release of a Mackmyra whisky with an age statement,” says Magnus Dandanell, CEO of Mackmyra
