Knob Creek Rye Gets Double Barrel Treatment
Knob Creek has launched Knob Creek Twice Barreled Rye, taking its existing rye whiskey and making it into a double barreled whiskey, finished in a second round of new oak.
“Rye whiskey is more popular than ever, and I’m proud Knob Creek plays a role in that,” said Fred Noe, Beam Family 7th Generation Master Distiller. “I’ve enjoyed experimenting with unique ways to amplify our classic rye whiskey to give whiskey fans something new and exciting, and I think we’ve done just that with Knob Creek Twice Barreled Rye. I hope everyone has a chance to enjoy this new whiskey with friends and family as we enter the holiday season.”
This is the second example of a whiskey from Jim Beam getting the double barrel treatment, the first being Jim Beam Double Oaked Bourbon (released in 2016). Rye whiskeys getting secondary maturation in new oak isn’t unique, but it’s not as widespread as the practice is with bourbon as of yet. Sagamore Spirit and Heritage Distilling both have a double barreled rye, but Knob Creek Twice Barreled is the first such release from a big distiller.
Knob Creek Twice Barreled Rye is bottled at 100 proof, the usual for Knob Creek whiskeys. It will retail for $45.
