WhistlePig Unveils Dave Pickerell’s Final (Completed) Whiskey
The fingerprints of legendary whiskey man Dave Pickerell, cover so many thing in modern whiskey distilling, from being a key player in creating the expansion plan Maker’s Mark has now successfully implemented twice to advising so many craft whiskey start-ups. Keeping in mind that he was working right up to the day of his passing this past November, his legacy isn’t quite solidified yet: projects he was involved in will continue to reach fruition for the next couple of years.
Yet what should be his final completed whiskey is just coming out, as Vermont’s WhistlePig releases Piggyback Rye. Pickerell reportedly created Piggyback out of WhistlePig’s inventory of sourced ryes with an eye on making a whiskey that would be ideal for use in cocktails, but it also conveniently comes out as both younger and less expensive that their flagship 10 Year Old Rye. Piggyback is a 6 year old from the same Canadian, Alberta-made 100% rye stock. It is bottled at 96.56 proof and priced at $49.99.
