The Glenrothes Unveils Very Rare 50 Year Old Single Malt
The Glenrothes is bringing out their oldest release yet, a 50 year old single malt. This ultra-aged whisky was distilled in 1968, spent five decades aging in ex-Sherry and -bourbon casks, before being bottled at a rather strong 48% ABV in just the last couple of years. As if that wasn’t enough, only 50 bottles of this Scotch will be available for sale. Given that those 50 bottles are in 750ml, not the EU standard of 700ml, the release is presumably aimed at (but not exclusive to) the American market. Each bottle is priced at a hefty $35,000.
