Belle Meade Marks Independence Day With Cask Strength Bourbon
Nelson’s Greenbrier, the Nashville-based distillery, is marking both the 4th of July and the birthday of the founder of the original, Charles Nelson, pre-Prohibition distillery with the release of a new bourbon.
This new expression is Belle Meade Cask Strength Reserve, a blend of seven barrels of high rye bourbon (presumably MGP-sourced). The barrels in question range from 7 to 11 years of age, and at the time of publication the exact proof of the cask strength bottling was not known; it is expected to fall between 110 and 120 proof.
Unlike some past special releases from Nelson’s Greenbrier, this is not a distillery-only release and will be distributed nationwide. Expected retail price is around $60.
