Colorado’s Ironton Launches Bonded Single Malt This Weekend

New Bonded Whiskey To Be Released With Party, Fanfare

It has been a massive year for Colorado’s Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse (Ironton). In addition to announcing its upcoming state-of-the-art Louisville, CO production facility and expanded tasting room experience in March, Ironton is now gearing up to debut a full label refresh across its core spirits portfolio. But the momentum doesn’t stop there, because Ironton is also excited to announce the upcoming release of its first Bottled-in-Bond American Single Malt Whiskey in celebration of its 6th Anniversary on July 27, 2024.

Featuring 100% barley, this American Single Malt Whiskey was aged for four years in American white oak barrels with a #2 char and showcases the familiar earthy mineral notes familiar to Highland Scotch fans. Drinkers will be greeted with notes of fresh baked bread and butterscotch on the nose followed by toasted pear, rich honey, and a soft toffee finish on the taste.

“We are thrilled to debut our first Bottled-in-Bond whiskey expression as a testament to Ironton’s continued commitment to producing the highest quality whiskey and spirits possible,” said Kallyn Romero, co-founder of Ironton Distillery. “As we mark our 6th year as a distillery it felt only fitting that we commemorate the occasion with such a meaninful release.”

Ironton has been producing whiskey for many years with entries like its American Straight Malt Whiskey, Colorado Straight Rye Malt Whiskey, and Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey at the core of its whiskey lineup. However, producing a bottled-in-bond whiskey has been a long-time goal for the emerging craft distillery as it represents an elevated commitment to quality within the spirit category. Bottled-in-Bond whiskeys must adhere to the following requirements in order to earn the designation:

  • The spirit must be aged for at least four years.
  • The spirit must be bottled at precisely 100 proof (50% abv).
  • The spirit must made by one distiller at a single distillery in one season
  • The spirit must be aged in a bonded warehouse.

“Releasing our first Bottled-in-Bond whiskey is a huge milestone for us. It shows how much care and effort we’ve put into creating something special, and we’re excited to share this top-quality, authentic whiskey with everyone,” said Laura Walters, Head Distiller and Co-Owner of Ironton Distillery.

To further commemorate the momentous occasion, Ironton’s 6th Anniversary celebration will also feature a tiki-themed anniversary party on Saturday, July 27th from 12pm to 8pm. Festivities include DJ’s throughout the day, special anniversary tiki cocktails and food specials, hula dancers, hourly giveaways, including a set of Ironton Distilling skis, and a musical performance from the Rick Lewis Project with 103.5 The Fox personality Rick Lewis.

Bottles of Ironton’s debut Bottled in Bond American Single Malt Whiskey will be available beginning Saturday, July 27 from the distillery and will be available at various partner retail stores throughout the state shortly thereafter.
