Iowa’s Cedar Ridge Distillery has turned out two installments from its annual, limited release line for the end of the 2024-25 winter season. The first is what they consider the flagship for their annual, limited editions: the Cedar Ridge Port Cask Finished Bourbon. The Port in question comes from Cedar Ridge’s own in-house fortified wine, since the distillery started out as a winery. Made with a mash of 74% corn, 14% rye and 12% malted barley, this bourbon is matured first in traditional new oak barrels before being given a second round in Port wine casks. It’s bottled at 94 proof. The suggested retail price is $59.99.
Cedar Ridge Port Cask Finished Rye shares a similar background. This is an 85% rye, 12% corn, 3% malted barley rye whiskey, bottled at 105 proof. Like the bourbon, it too has received a round of secondary maturation in Cedar Ridge’s own fortified wine casks and retails for $59.99.
