Tennessee craft distiller Nelson’s Green Brier has introduced a new cask finish spin on its sourced Belle Meade Bourbon, the Belle Meade Cognac Finish Bourbon. It follows the Belle Meade 9 Year Old Sherry Finish Bourbon.
“We found a selection of casks made of French Limousin oak in which one of the world’s premier Fine Champagne XO Cognacs had been aged for twelve years,” said co-founder Charlie Nelson. “One smell told us that they held magnificent potential as finishing barrels for our bourbon.”
These Cognac casks were filled with a high rye (30%) bourbon, ranging in age from six to nine years. After a finishing period, the whiskey was bottled, unfiltered, at 90.4 proof.
