Quiet Man, the sourced Irish Whiskey brand owned by Niche Drinks and imported into the U.S. by Luxco, has set its sights on building a distillery in Derry. Niche Drinks co-owner and managing director Ciaran Mulgrew made a presentation to the Derry City and Strabane District Council’s Business and Culture Committee last week, and is seeking planning permission on a £12 million project that will create 43 jobs. Most of those jobs would be as tour guides or in the attached cafe planned for visitors; only 8 would be working in the actual distillery. If permission is approved, Mulgrew expects the distillery will be operational in mid-2018.
