Rabbit Hole Cancels Rickhouse Project
Rabbit Hole had only just opened their $15 million distillery in Louisville last month, but have now been compelled to cancel plans to build rickhouses in Smithfield, Kentucky. Some Smithfield residents complained, citing concerns of a type of black mold that is associated with alcohol distilling and aging. As the bourbon industry has expanded in Kentucky, residential complaints regarded this “distiller’s mold” have mushroomed. Rabbit Hole decided to pull the project, and is now looking for a new home for their future rickhouses.
