Torabhaig Distillery on Scotland’s famed Isle of Skye has unveiled their first and flagship single malt Taigh, the producer’s first core expression, to its portfolio. Exemplifying the distillery’s “Smoke with Taste” philosophy, Taigh will define Torabhaigh’s house style for years to come, acting as the guiding reference point for all future releases. Pronounced “Tie”, Taigh means house in Scottish Gaelic, but for Torabhaig it also means “home,” reflecting the distillery’s place on the Sleat Peninsula.
Torabhaig is one of only two single malt distilleries on the island. Housed in a restored steading built from the stones of a neighboring ruined castle, the distillery continues a long tradition of craftsmanship on the island, influenced by sea air, weather and community.
Building on the success of the Legacy Series, the brand’s signature collection of limited-release expressions, Taigh marks the beginning of a new era for the distillery: a whisky designed to welcome a broader audience of whisky drinkers while remaining unmistakably Torabhaig in style and character.
Like all Torabhaig whiskies, Taigh is produced by seasoned whisky maker Neil MacLeod Mathieson alongside a small team of local distillers, all trained in-house. Crafted in small batches and matured in a combination of first-fill and refill bourbon casks alongside select Madeira casks, Taigh offers an elegant, balanced approach to peat that enhances flavor rather than overwhelming it. Bottled at 46% with no chill-filitration or added color, the new single malt delivers gentle smoke layered with vanilla custard, toasted almond, sweet dried fruits and warming spice.
Taigh is now available for purchase in select markets across the United States including California, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. The MSRP is $50.
