To mark Walsh Whiskey Distillery’s 17 years in business and a momentous year for the Walsh family with the commissioning of their distillery at Royal Oak in Ireland’s County Carlow, Bernard and Rosemary Walsh are releasing a highly exclusive expression of The Irishman whiskey, a 17 Year Old single cask, single malt drawn from a first-fill sherry butt.

The release, comprising just three sherry butts of The Irishman 17 Year Old, has been exclusively secured by a handful of partners worldwide including:

  • London’s exclusive department store, Harrods;
  • Dugas of Paris, and;
  • Travel Retail’s Irish Whiskey Collection at Dublin Airport .

Explaining the basis for the release and the unique character of this exclusive anniversary expression, Walsh Whiskey Distillery Co-Founder and Chief Executive, Bernard Walsh said: “This is an historic year in the development of our company with the commissioning of our distillery at the 18th century Royal Oak estate. That landmark warranted a very special release. The signature of this exceptional 17 year old is its deep rich flavor profile. The influence of the sherry cask is forever present, with notes of dark chocolate, toasted oak and sweet sherried raisins. We have specifically bottled it at natural cask strength (54% ABV) without chill filtering – as nature had intended.”
