Jameson Passes Major Sales Milestone
By Richard Thomas
Sales of Jameson, the top Irish Whiskey brand, passed four million cases in the last six months of 2017 according to reports in the Irish media, including The Irish News. The landmark sales marked a 5% increase for Jameson. From mid-2016 to mid-2017, Jameson sold a total of 6.5 million cases, so their annual sales report coming in mid-summer should set a new high mark for the brand.
The same sales reports indicated that Powers, a premium Irish Whiskey brand made at the same distillery as Jameson (Cork County’s New Midleton) rose 11%.
To put Jameson’s last known annual sales figures of 6.5 million cases into perspective, Jameson is by far the dominant brand in its own sector of Irish Whiskey. By way of comparison to other major world whiskey players, Jack Daniel’s reported 12.5 million and Jim Beam 8 million cases in 2016, while Johnnie Walker reported 17.6 million cases in 2015.
