Bib & Tucker is a 19th Century term used for one’s best clothes. In modern times, this language is not really used, but Deutsch Family Spirits has brought it back as the name of their small batch bourbon line. Bib & Tucker is a sourced, six year old Tennessee-made bourbon. The brand also has a 10 year old version, and a 12 year old single barrel bourbon. Whenever a reasonably aged, let alone middle aged, Tennessee bourbon pops up, the usual suspect for making it is George Dickel/Cascade Hollow in Tullahoma, but that is unconfirmed in this case.

The Bourbon
Packaged in a faux antique styled, embossed bottle, it is rather eye-catching and pretty cool to keep in the bar. Overall, Bib & Tucker Small Batch is a solid bourbon with awesome traditional bourbon notes. With that being said, it does lack a strong finish as the notes fade quickly leaving a longer more fulfilling finish to be desired. Bib & Tucker is bottled at 92 proof/46% ABV.

Color: Dark Maple

On the nose are sweet but mellow traditional bourbon notes of butterscotch, charred oak, burnt sugar, toasted pecans, maple, and French toast. The palate is consistent with the aromas. The sweetness continues while bringing out notes of graham cracker, cinnamon, pecan pie, fall spices, and is somewhat tannic. The finish is shorter than desired and the sweetness fades quickly ending with a tobacco and leather note.

The Price
Bib & Tucker Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey is $50.

  1. Agreed for the most part. I’m not sure about the “+” added to the B rating. You can sip it, but you can also mix it without feeling guilty. I’d say it’s perfect for a high end mixed drink. As I prefer drinking straight bourbon, this leaves a bit to be desired at the price point. I won’t be buying it again but if someone offers it, I wouldn’t turn it down.
