Just when you thought the New Belgium and Four Roses collaboration on Oakspire Ale would be the Lawrenceburg distillery’s only foray into bourbon barrel beer for the end of 2025, a surprise has been waiting for you. Four Roses has also collaborated with another Kirin Brewing stablemate, Brooklyn Brewery, on another barrel-aged beer. In the seventh annual release, the two drinks companies have turned out another batch of Black Ops.

This annual release takes Brooklyn Brewery’s Russian Imperial Stout and then ages it for three months in used Four Roses barrels. Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver called it “a stout-drinker’s stout,” referring to it as punchy, sleek, and deceptively smooth at 12.4% ABV. Four Roses Master Distiller Brent Elliott added that the collaboration “hits all the right notes for our loyal bourbon drinkers, yet offers a flavor profile that’s entirely its own.”

The 2025 Brooklyn Black Ops is now rolling out nationwide in 16-ounce four-packs.
