Glenlivet Crosses 1 Million Cases Mark
By Richard Thomas
French drinks company Pernod Ricard reported that The Glenlivet single malt scotch whisky brand crossed the one million nine-liter cases shipped mark for the 2013/14 period. This follows the company’s prediction in July that they might achieve the sales landmark during this reporting period.
Heretofore the only single malt brand shipping more than one million cases per year was Glenfiddich, owned by William Grant & Sons. This cements The Glenlivet’s place as both the #2 single malt whisky brand, after Glenfiddich, and as Pernod Ricard’s #2 seller after Jameson Irish Whiskey.
Reaching the landmark was good news for Pernod Ricard, who reported a sharp decline in profits due to a slump in demand in China.
