Six-Region Vatted Malt Scotch Introduced
By Richard Thomas
The big names in vatted malt Scotch can draw on stock from dozens of Scottish distilleries in making their product, but whether one of them draws on stock from all six of Scotland’s whisky regions remains unknown because the complete source list for these brands remains secret. If there was a six-region vatted malt from that group, it had been and is staying in the closet.
Now that gap has been closed by importer M.S. Walker and bottler MacDuff International, who have released a new expression: Grand Macnish Six Cask Edition Blended Malt Scotch Whisky. As the name implies, this new Grand Macnish makes a point on drawing stock from all six Scotch regions of the Highlands, Speyside, Islay, Campbeltown, Lowland and Island. The new vatted malt will retail for $36.99.
