Brooklyn’s Kings County Distillery To Expand
By Richard Thomas
King’s County Distillery enjoys the distinction of being the first whiskey distillery to operate in New York City in modern times, and now it is set to expand according to The Brooklyn Eagle.
King’s County was started when Colin Spoelman and David Haskell set up shop in 2009, and when they began making whiskey they became the first working distillery in the Five Boroughs since Prohibition. The distillery initially focused on making moonshine, but now produces a range of whiskeys. Haskell is also the author of the popular King’s County Guide To Urban Moonshining.
Now the company wishes to add a 9,000 square foot facility in Bushwick to its existing 15,000 square foot location in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The new location would serve as a production and distribution center, as well as possibly hosting tastings and events.
