William Grant & Sons Expanding In India
By Richard Thomas
William Grant & Sons plans to expand from its current 1/4 share of the Indian whisky market up to a 30% share, according to a report in DNA India.
India is the world’s biggest whisky market, although nearly all of that market is supplied by domestic whisky-makers, often producing a hybrid of imported whiskies and a locally made liquor similar to rum.
William Grant & Sons currently has its one-quarter share based largely on The Glenfiddich. However, they have introduced Monkey Shoulder, The Balvenie, and more expressions from The Glenfiddich. The company anticipates expanding to roughly a 1/3 market share in the next six to seven years.
