The fan-favorite Texas bourbon distillery Garrison Brothers has decided to break into flavored whiskey territory by releasing a honey liqueur, HoneyDew, due out August 17th.
The sweet stuff comes from Burleson’s Honey, a family-owned outfit in Waxahachie, Texas. They will be on-hand for the launch, as will a mobile cigar lounge. Cocktails using HoneyDew will be provided by Frost 321.
Garrison Brothers was intent on creating a liqueur that retained a bourbon character and did not use artificial sweeteners or other agents. A few dozen barrels of their four year old bourbon were drawn upon, and the staves left over from that barrel dump were sawn up into cubes and pressure-infused with Burleson’s Texas Wildflower Honey. These cubes were then placed into the tank with the bourbon.
The process yielded 3,700 bottles of liqueur at 80 proof, and these are priced at $69.99 each.
I bought a botttle. Loved it and would like to get another. Is it still available
