Hitting shelves this month is a 10 Year Old version of Basil Hayden, the high rye, premium expression from Jim Beam. Like the basic expression, Basil Hayden 10 Year Old is bottled at a lighter 80 proof.
The original Basil Hayden was an 8 year old bourbon, basically an older version of Old Granddad. That age statement was removed in 2012, so the 10 year old represents a chance for bourbonphiles to get a crack at some of Jim Beam’s middle aged high rye for the first time in years, and in a somewhat more aged format to boot.
Basil Hayden’s 10 Year Old Bourbon is now available nationwide for a limited time with a suggested retail price of $59.99 for a 750mL bottle
