Taiwan’s Kavalan Starts Sherry And Port Cask Series

As Kavalan Single Malt Whisky celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2016 and making plans to expand its distilling capacity by breaking ground on a second distillery, the distillery located in Taiwan’s Yilan County now introduces a range of whiskies that explore the array of sherry styles plus port and their impact on maturation in Taiwan’s sub-tropical climate. Already winning awards internationally, Kavalan’s new Amontillado, Manzanilla, Moscatel, PX and Port matured single malts will arrive on shelf in the U.S. beginning this April 2017.

“Kavalan has been exploring with the interaction of climate and barrel influence since its inception. This new range offers a unique side-by-side comparison of how sherry and port casks expand upon the broad spectrum of flavor profiles already found in Kavalan’s whiskies,” says Dennis Carr, president and CEO of Kavalan’s U.S. importer, Anchor Distilling Company. “In our ongoing mission to educate spirits connoisseurs, Anchor looks forward to bringing these whiskies to the U.S. market.
