Kentucky’s Wilderness Trail Expands Property

By Richard Thomas

The Danville, Kentucky-based Wilderness Trail Distillery expanded its property last week with the purchase of 13 adjacent acres. The new land, located between the distillery’s current property and the Bluegrass Community and Technical College, is intended for an events space and additional rickhouses.

Wilderness Trail is an outgrowth of Ferm Solutions, a laboratory and yeast provider that has become a fixture in the American whiskey industry.

In an article for The Danville Advocate-Messenger, Wilderness Trail co-owner Shane Baker indicated the purchase of additional land was necessary because of the spacing required between rickhouses, a minimum of 200 feet. Construction on the distillery’s next rickhouse will begin later this year.
