High West Up For Sale

By Richard Thomas

Utah’s High West Distillery, the micro-distillery and independent bottler that has become such a fan favorite among American whiskey diehards for its early adoption of a relatively transparent stance regarding its whiskeys sources, is now up for sale according to a report by Bloomberg.

High West was one of the earlier entrants into America’s craft whiskey scene, opened in 2009 by biochemist David Perkins and his wife Jane. Their project was the first legal distillery in Utah since Prohibition. However, it was not High West’s in-house spirits, but it’s blends of sourced whiskeys that gained the company much attention from whiskey fans.

Reports indicate the company could fetch as much as $100 million, and among the bidders is French drinks giant Pernod-Ricard, owner of Jameson and Chivas Regal.
