Colorado’s Distillery 291 Brings Out First Straight Whiskey This Sunday

Distillery 291 has unveiled its first-ever straight whiskey. 291 Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Aspen Stave Finished – Barrel #398 will be released in the Tasting Room on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16th.

“It’s a long time coming,” said Founding Distiller, Michael Myers. “We’ve always been moving in this direction and plan to continue aging our whiskey longer and longer. It’s a phenomenal whiskey and there’s much more to come.”

291 Colorado Straight Bourbon Whiskey (130.6 proof, 65.3% abv) has a bold nose that’s both sweet and spicy. Dried fruits (cherries, mangoes, apples) greet you first, while honey and vanilla round out the sweetness. Oak and green tea fill out the middle, while cooking spices such as cinnamon, coriander, and pepper balance the richness of the nose.  Your mouth is left tingling from the cooking spices (and proof). Dried apricot, oak and vanilla linger for a lengthy finish.

Less than 50 bottles will be available for purchase exclusively at the Tasting Room at 1647 South Tejon Street in Colorado Springs for $200 a bottle.
