Five Drops Montana Straight Bourbon Whiskey Review
By Douglas Fraser
Rating: C+

Five Drops Montana Straight Bourbon Whiskey is an edition of the whiskey line from WildRye Distilling. Founding in 2013, the distillery is a craft distillery strongly rooted in local resources. All grains and fruits are sourced locally and reflect the ruggedness of the State of Montana. The water come from mountain spring water.
The Bourbon
Five Drops Montana Straight Bourbon Whiskey tastes rather young (approx. 2-3 years) and unsure if it wants to be a rye or bourbon whiskey. There is a heavy rye note throughout the tasting. Five Drops Montana Straight Bourbon Whiskey is bottled at 45% ABV/90 Proof.
Color: Light Brown
On the nose are heavy sweet notes that open up to aromas of sweet corn, vanilla, fresh red berries, nutmeg, and other baking spices. The palate is sweet as well with notes of sweet corn, caramel, rye spice, vanilla, and oak. The finish is long with lingering rye spice, baking spices, and oak.
The Price
Five Drops Montana Straight Bourbon Whiskey can be found for $60.
