Rhetoric Bourbon Turns 25 With Final Release

Rhetoric Bourbon is arguably the most interesting project to come out of the Orphan Barrel series of ultra-aged North American whiskeys from Diageo. The idea was to take a stock of already quite old bourbon, and release some each year to create a steadily older, vertical series. The series started with Rhetoric 20 Year Old, and each year that has followed has seen a new batch released, but one year older.

The Rhetoric stock was distilled at Bernheim Distillery in Louisville from a high corn (86%) mash bill, and aged at the Stitzel-Weller warehouses. Now it culminates in the 25 Year Old, bottled at 91 proof and offered at $140 per 750ml bottle retail.
