Booker’s 2nd Batch For The Year Is A “Shiny Barrel”

The second 2019 batch of Booker’s, the unfiltered and uncut bourbon that has been a staple of enthusiasts for a quarter-century, has been announced as “Shiny Barrel.” Jim Beam began giving individual batches of Booker’s names, often drawn from anecdotes or features of the man who created the expression, legendary Master Distiller Booker Noe.

This installment pays a nod to the practice of distillery workers to draw whiskey from “honey barrels” in the rickhouse, dusting them off in the process. As the story goes, Booker Noe would notice the cleaned up barrels, helping him recognize their contents. Hence, “Shiny Barrel.”

The new batch comes in at 124 proof, with an age of 6 years, 5 months and 1 day. The official price point is holding at $79.99.
