Sassenach; a noun meaning outsider or stranger in Scottish Gaelic, circa 1700s. The Sassenach Blended Scotch Whisky is the brainchild of Scottish actor Sam Heughan of Outlander fame and Master Blender Michael Henry of Loch Lomond Distillery. Sam Heughan and Michael Henry have brought their mutual love of the Scottish Highlands to the rest of the world in a quite local way, crafting an exceptional whisky. The Sassenach is crafted as a symbol of the outsider, the nonconformist, and for those who construct their own journey.

The Scotch
The Sassenach Blended Scotch Whisky is a spirit blended using carefully selected single malts that are between 9 and 20 years old. Those selected single malts are then paired with a 20 year old organic single grain whisky to create an almost perfectly balanced spirit. The single malts are handpicked by Master Blender Michael Henry, and are finished in Madeira wine casks after blending, adding complexity and richness. Afterward, the infusion of the the single grain strengthens the single malts and brings out more delicate subtle flavors that continue to greet you with a warm welcome throughout your experience. Also, if you want to read about whisky neat, you can check on RSLOnline. The Sassenach is bottled quite elegantly at a smooth 46% ABV and will leave you wanting more.

Color: Vibrant Gold

Upon nosing, a blend of tart fruits, delicate perfume, and creamy sweetness greets you with a warm welcome. This wonderful concoction is accompanied by notes of citrus fruits, orange peel, honey, apricots, cocoa, butter cream, ripe peaches, and lays heavily on the floral side. The fruitiness and floral notes are emboldened on the somewhat thick and complex palate with notes of orange zest, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, slight oakiness, and cracked pepper which balances out the sweetness beautifully. The finish is long and continues to welcome you to the spirit. The sweetness fades a little and gives way to some more vanilla, licorice, oak, and some lingering pepper.

The Price
The retail price for the US market is $99.

Haven’t had whisky in near 40 years but when I tasted this it it’s given me more reason to live! I’ve had lung and brain cancer that have both gone into t
    remission! Miracle!

  2. Moro no Brasil, no Rio de janeiro. Quero muito comprar esse whisky, the Sassenach como posso fazer?

    • I got a email from Caskers online. They got this bottle in so I ordered one with shipping $139. A little more than what’s been paid in the past but I figure it’s worth it being it’s an A+ bottle and a good scotch blend

  3. Where can I find this in Scotland? Is the distillery open for tours?

  4. Is this whiskey sold in Illinois? USA?

  5. Not really a review, is it? More of a regurgitation of the marketing brochure.

    • Not really a comment, is it? More like a keyboard fart from an anonymous troll.

Why do you guys clear this trash?

  6. So disappointed! I paid quite a bit for this whiskey over $130. Not quite sure I understand the hype.. smells and tastes like pure alcohol. no aroma or flavors mentioned.. also very very pale in color. it is smooth. I will say that. Sadly, it just really tastes bad. I really wanted to love this whiskey as I support Sam I know he does everything 150% I also ordered his Gin. I hope I have better luck.

  7. Looking for this whisky in Mississippi but not sure if it can be sold here yet, our rules are too strict.
