Deanston Releases 20 Year Old Cask Strength

Deanston, the distillery located near historic Stirling of Stirling Bridge fame, has added another single malt to its Scotch whisky portfolio: Deanston Oloroso 20 Year Old.

This limited edition expression, available from the end of November, has been bottled at cask strength after maturing for 20 years at the Perthshire distillery in ex-Oloroso sherry casks.

The taste profile is billed as including hints of Oloroso sherry mixed with warming gingerbread and nutmeg, making it an ideal malt for the festive season. Distinguished by its beautifully balanced sweet and creamy nose and rich, spicy palate, the packaging of this limited bottling embodies Deanston’s traditional look and feel, and is reminiscent of the earthy colours of the Oloroso casks which housed this copper gold malt for two decades.

Alison Gibb, Global Marketing Manager at Burn Stewart Distillers, owners of Deanston, said: “True to the heritage of Deanston Distillery, which is rooted in community values, the Oloroso 20 Year Old has been crafted with the utmost care and dedication.

“The rich, creamy, spicy influences imparted by the wood from the ex-Oloroso sherry casks give this malt a truly special character and we’re excited to announce its release in time for the festive season when it can be enjoyed with friends and family.”

Former cotton mill Deanston Distillery has been producing handcrafted, natural color Highland single malt whisky on the banks of the River Teith since 1966. The meter-thick stone walls of the distillery’s warehouse help to create the perfect conditions to ensure a smooth, even maturation year round.

Deanston Oloroso 20 Year Old is bottled at 55.3% abv, and has a recommended retail price of £110.
