Hochstadter’s Rye Coming Out With A 16 Year Old

The Cooper Spirits Co., an independent producer of innovative, quality- focused spirits, announces the first ultra-premium Hochstadter’s offering: Hochstadter’s Family Reserve Straight Rye Whiskey. Aged 16 years, the 7,500 bottle limited release is a 123.8 proof, cask strength straight rye whiskey created for the most discerning connoisseurs and collectors.

Hochstadter’s Family Reserve is made from 100 percent farm-grown rye grain and aged 16 years in newly charred American Oak Barrels. Sourced from Alberta Distillers Limited, this rare and bold offering is bottled at barrel proof in Philadelphia, PA. The end result is unfiltered, undiluted and full- flavored, delivering an intense explosion of robust rye flavor. This powerful expression comes showcased in a classic whiskey bottle silhouette, elegantly appointed with a gold foil detailed label and a custom cork branded with the Hochstadter’s insignia.

Robert J. Cooper, the late Founder of The Cooper Spirits Company and a long-time rye whiskey enthusiast, hand-selected the whiskey for Hochstadter’s Family Reserve. He chose the barrels for this release after meticulously tasting from The Cooper Spirits Company’s extensive library of whiskey stocks. “At 16 years of age and bottled at cask strength, these barrels deliver a vibrant maturity and a full-bodied rye flavor that we hoped to achieve with the first release of Hochstadter’s Family Reserve,” says Robyn Greene, SVP of Marketing and Innovation at The Cooper Spirits Company.

During the 19th century, Hochstadter’s was a range of spirits produced in New York with over 20 bottlings ranging from Batavia Arrack to Irish Whiskey and Rock and Rye. Hochstadter’s and Charles Jacquin et Cie, the Cooper family’s company, merged and the Hochstadter’s brand became part of the Cooper family portfolio until the late ‘40’s when the Hochstadter’s line was discontinued.

Cooper Spirits resurrected the Hochstadter’s brand in 2013 with the introduction of Hochstadter’s Slow & Low Rock & Rye. In 2015, the company introduced the second product in the Hochstadter’s portfolio, Hochstadter’s Vatted Straight Rye Whiskey, the first-ever straight rye whiskey to use the vatted designation. And now, the company is releasing the first ultra-premium Hochstadter’s offering – Family Reserve Straight Rye Whiskey, a 16 year, limited release, cask strength bottling.

Hochstadter’s Family Reserve is meant to be savored neat or over a large ice cube and is available in extremely limited quantities at select retailers across the nation at a suggested retail price of $199.99.
